IT honors scholarships, research, and financial aid
IT Undergraduate Research Assistant Scholarship
Approximately 20 of these scholarships are awarded to incoming
IT freshmen each year. The award includes a scholarship of at least
$2,500 for the freshman year and placement in a faculty member's
research program during spring semester.
When you apply
for admission to the freshman honors program you will automatically
be considered for this award. Contact the Office
of Admissions for more information (612-625-2008).
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
(UROP)
UROP gives undergraduate
students the opportunity to work with faculty on research, scholarly,
or creative activities. Each year more than 400 students participate
in this competitive, University-wide program, including many IT
honors students. Participants receive a stipend (up to $1,400) and/or
an expense allowance (up to $300) to assist with a faculty member's
research or conduct their own projects under a faculty member's
supervision.
Awards are granted on the basis of a research proposal submitted
by the applicant. UROP accepts research proposals twice yearly (deadlines
usually are in early October and early March). Students must work
with a faculty member in their interest area to develop the proposal.
Contact the UROP office, 325 Johnston Hall, for more information
(612-625-3853).
