The formal ceremony will begin with a faculty procession leading the graduates into Northrop Memorial Auditorium and will conclude with the presentation of degree candidates. All graduates will sit together in a designated area. All students attending will be individually recognized on the stage. Graduates are encouraged to wear caps and gowns.
After the presentation of student and faculty awards, those attending will hear speeches from Akash Kumar, a student receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering; and keynote speaker R.M. (Rich) Kruger, a 1981 University of Minnesota mechanical engineering graduate who now serves as executive vice president of ExxonMobil Production Company. In his speech entitled “Inventing Tomorrow,” Kruger will comment on the graduates’ decision to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. He will also offer words of advice for a successful career.
