Lind Hall Renovation

Building Concepts

The renovation of the first floor of Lind Hall will create a warm and welcoming center of activity for all science and engineering students on campus. The building will maintain its historic feel while incorporating state-of-the-art technology, display space and artwork that appeals to diverse students.

Lind HallWood columns and panels will be used to extend architectural elements from Lind Hall’s beautiful Taylor Center to the rest of the first floor of Lind Hall. Glass walls will be used to create a more contemporary feel to this old building and provide wider visual site lines that symbolize a more transparent, community feel of the work to serve students. Floor and ceiling patterns will foster school spirit and serve as visual cues to help direct students to their destination.

Lind HallIn addition, the building’s infrastructure will be upgraded to meet all current code requirements, while maintaining the historical significance of the building’s exterior. This will include improving building accessibility, replacing windows, converting electrical and circulation systems, removing hidden hazardous materials such as asbestos or lead, and upgrading the fire protection system.
